Since the Fall of the Wall

It's been a week since the wall came down. The retaining wall, not The Berlin Wall....obviously. And you'll be happy to hear the stitches are coming out tomorrow (well, maybe you're not but I sure am) and the doctors think I should be able to start walking by this weekend. Great news!

Since I've been on crutches for the past week, Brad has picked up the slack. And then some. He's up with Stella every morning (at 5 am, I might add) and does everything he can to keep her entertained and away from the foot...which she thinks is a really cool chew toy. And in addition to making sure I have everything I need without having to move much he does everything else, too. He does the laundry. He does the cleaning. He takes me to my doctor appointments. He does the cooking - and I'm not talking PB&J sandwiches and microwavable meals, he makes the good stuff. He's actually a pretty fantastic cook. Oh, and did I mention he's still going to work in between all of this? Am I lucky or what?

And when Brad isn't around, our neighbors have stepped in. They come by every few hours to check on me and take Stella for a walk. They made us dinner a few nights ago to give Brad a break which was really nice. We are truly blessed to have neighbors like them and are beyond grateful.

Brad and I ventured out....all of 20 yards in front of the house to visit the scene of the crime. The slab was propped up against the wall and just looking at it made me squirm. Gives me the heeby geebies just writing this. But I'm happy to report that since my little "incident" all of the retaining walls throughout the neighborhood are going to be replaced. Seems a little extreme but with all of the kids in our neighborhood, probably not a bad idea. I can't imagine if one of those slabs landed on a 5 year old...gives me chills.

When my foot is not propped up, that's when the pain sets in which means I've spent more time in the couch these past few days than I care to admit. But it's given me a lot of time to catch up on reading. And the German TNT channel (which is in English except for the commercials) is showing 2 episodes of Gilmore Girls everyday. Takes me back. Ahhhh, the good ol' days. Admit it. You love the Gilmore Girls.

Unfortunately, I've been sitting at this desk too long and it's time to go fill that void on the couch once again. Prayers would be appreciated as I truly need a speedy recovery. This accident has already ruined one trip, it'll be tragic if it ruins another.
